Dominio De La Vega

Dominio Dela Vega is located in the heart of the Requena – Utiel region. From this enclave surrounded by vineyards, we are devoted to the aging of wines and the production of Cavas, registered as Designation of Origin for Utiel - Requena and Cava. Geographically speaking, the region is a circular plateau with a diameter of 45 km at an altitude of between 697 m (Siete Aguas) and 907 m (Camporrobles) above sea level.

It has a typically Mediterranean climate, although with marked Continental characteristics due to its altitude and distance from the sea.

Vine growing has been part of the agricultural activity in the area since the 13th century.
Thanks to this tradition and the flowering of vine growing and wine making in recent times, consequence of the coming closer of the region to the Port of Valencia and the powdery mildew crisis in Europe, we find today the breeding ground required for the production of wines and Cavas with the essential analytical parameters so that experts rate them as quality wines with Designation of Origin. And this, from the most traditional grapevine vitis vinifera varieties in the area: Bobal, Tempranillo or Cencibel, Macabeo and Garnacha, to which Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot have been added in recent years with excellent results.

We produce wines and cavas according to traditional methods, with loving care and great devotion. Nevertheless, this has not prevented us from using the latest wine-making technology to carry out, supervise and control a complex process by which the grapes ofour vineyards are transformed into fine, elegant, pleasant and enjoyable wines, which help us to express our emotions freely and to obtain greater happiness, if possible, for an instant, and to make this instant endure amongst us.

At Dominio De La Vega, we strive to produce wines that offer pleasant sensations to those who drink and taste them. We therefore take great care with the process and strictly control the whole winemaking process, from the grapes in the vineyard to the bottle on the table and up to that triumphant moment when all the effort put in is rewarded by the appreciation of our consumers.

Bodegas Altanza

1998 Bodegas Altanza arose from a group of businessmen to make a Rioja winery producing quality wines accessible to everyone.

Altanza Winery is located in an area of 35.000m2 of which 10,000 are gardens. Located in Fuenmayor (La Rioja Alta), tries to combine tradition and modernity.

Tradition, because in its construction and design have used the finest materials and traditional wood, stone and solid brick. In developing a system remains vertical pressing and unique variety of wines based on the tempranillo, not to mention the recovery of wooden vats for the production of quality wines.

Modernity , because inside we Bodegas Altanza the latest technologies in the processing system, as well as air conditioning and humidification processes of both ships as bottle barrels.

Up to 60% of the grapes come from our 320 ha estate (790 acres approx.). Around two hundred hectares of the total surface are assigned to grape-growing, whereas 70 hectares of the property are planted with olive trees.

TEMPRANILLO VARIETY
Tempranillo is a variety of black grape widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in its native Spain. It is the main grape used in Rioja, and is often referred to as Spain's "noble grape".

The Tempranillo (or "little early one" - so called because of the vine's small berries and early ripening) is the classic red grape variety of Rioja. Long thought to be a possible ancestor of Pinot Noir but now proved to be indigenous to Spain. In the last 100 years it has been planted in Mexico, New Zealand, South America, USA, South Africa, Australia, Turkey and Canada.

Tempranillo wines can be consumed young, but the most expensive ones are aged for several years in oak barrels. The wines are ruby red in colour, with aromas and flavors of berries, plum, tobacco, vanilla, leather and herb.

THE PARK OF BARRELS
Bodegas Altanza has a park of 8,500 barrels of 225 liters Bordeaux, with a percentage of 90% French oak and 10% American oak. French oak is chosen because we consider it an oak of higher quality than the American, brings a light touch of wood without masking the fruity aromas typical of Tempranillo.

The life of the barrels in the cellar is only 5 years , after going through those years the barrel is discarded.Renewed annually 5% of the barrels, ie about 430.

Every six months these casks are decanted to a machine to clean lees and make the "blend" wines.

Bodegas del Rosario

The vine-growing in Bullas dates back to the Roman domination, when the vineyards started to spread through the Hispania’s fields and the wine consumption also spread becoming a very popular product. In this era we find in the municipality of Bullas some elements which are directly related to the wine tradition; allegories to the vine-growing, such as the El Niño de las Uvas and the allegories to the harvest, such as the Sello del Castelar are examples sighting the economy and the dedications of the population in this region.

The Reconquest brings about a new expansion of the vine-growing in the region including the Designation of Origin Bullas.

In the middle of the 20th century there were 37 winemakers and winetraders in Bullas, as the price of the grapes were every time lower. At that time Mr Mateo Martínez goes on stage when in 1950 gathered a group of farmers and they started to make wine in rented cellars. They had the idea of the establishment of a new cellar, bigger and with better equipment. This is how the Wine-farming Cooperative Ntra. Sra. Del Rosario started.

During the process of wine growing we focus on the respect to the environment and the balanced development of our vines. All our plots are thoroughly examined in order to set the interaction among plants, soil and climate so that we can optimize the grape production and its quality potential. Fertilizers are restricted to a minimum, using mostly manure.
