Bodegas Argenceres
The vineyards are located in San Rafael, south of Mendoza province, on the foot of the Andes at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. Latitude: 34º 15’ to 36º south.
Argenceres vitis vinifera plantations consist in these varieties: Malbec, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The vineyards have a combination of old vines, some over 30 years old and others that have been recently planted in espalier, system that ensures adequate insulation of the grapes throughout their life cycle and drip irrigation system.
Plantation productivity are always low, trying not to exceed 8,000 kg / ha.
Thinning is performed to get also an increase in daylight hours and a greater concentration in the grapes, which is obtained using high densities that, in turn, generate reduced crop yields.
Vintage Selection
The annual vintage is performed manually, using exclusively 20 Kg boxes. The grapes are picked at their optimum ripeness and immediately transferred to the cellar, preventing uncontrolled pre-fermentation. Unlike other wineries, our vineyards and winery are within the same property, which results in a minimum transfer time of the grape and therefore a better wine quality.
- The selection begins in the vineyard, where only the grapes that meet the appropriate parameters are harvested.
- Later, in a selection table, the grapes are placed in a treadmill, where Argenceres personnel selects the best grapes, discarding the grapes that do not meet the right conditions, and preventing the flow of leaves or branches, which would damage the organoleptic quality of the wine.
Winemaking
- The grape is destemmed and then selected again before being transported to the fermentation vats.
- By gravity: during fermentation, to prevent unwanted oxidation, the use of pumps is avoided.
- Fermentation: in small concrete vats.
- The aging in some wines takes place in French and American oak casks and in bottle before being sent to market.
Valle Dela Puerta
The Valle de La Puerta Olive Grove and Vineyard was established in 1994. The property sits between the Famatina and Velasco Mountain ranges, which are part of the impressive Andes Mountains. This unique valley offers a magnificent visual backdrop and provides well drained top soils and magnificent water.
Also, a special microclimate that is warm year-round, with hot and dry summer days and more importantly, cool nights, combines with the clean air and desert-like topography of the valley to ensure outstanding ripening conditions for grapes and olive.
The winery was built in 2002 and is one of the most modern and technologically advanced wineries of its type in Argentina.
Our mission is to produce quality products, that consistently delivers great value, exceeding all expectation for the domestic and international markets, using modern, innovative technology whilst preserving and enhancing the environment.
“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skilful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives” – William A.Forster
